     Imagine this.

        A well-coiffed, nicely-attired salesperson calls on you. Tells a few jokes. Mentions the product by name three times, keeps things light. Doesn’t tell you the price or where or how to buy. Leaves without asking for an order on the assumption that if you want to buy, you’ll call.
        I know salespeople like that. But not any good ones.
        I see lots of advertising like that, too.
        What makes people think that what won’t sell a thing in person will magically start selling the moment it’s translated to print or film?
